As of September 18, 2026, interviewing.io is worth paying for if you want a live, anonymous rehearsal with a senior big-tech engineer; sessions start at $179. Its AI Interviewer and replay library are free. It is not a bank of recently reported company questions. Use a question bank for daily volume and human mocks for the final week.

Disclosure: TrueInterview is a competing product, and this review is written by the TrueInterview team. We checked interviewing.io's public pages signed out on September 18, 2026: the home page, FAQ, mock-replay library, question index, two question pages, the OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, Google and Meta guides, the employer page, the gift page, the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. We did not buy a session, sign up, or use the AI Interviewer, and we did not interview any interviewing.io users or staff. Every factual statement below traces to the exact wording we saw on a page listed under Sources.

Quick Verdict: Is interviewing.io Worth It in 2026?

Yes, for one specific job: a realistic, anonymous interview with a senior engineer, followed by direct feedback. It publishes a specific, numeric bar for its interviewers, and its free replay library is a real resource for anyone, paying or not. It is a weaker fit if you want to know which questions a specific company asked candidates recently: its Google and Meta guides say their question lists come from mock interviews on its platform and may differ from real interviews.

What We Verified — and What We Did Not

We used four levels of evidence. "Observed" means we saw it on a public page while signed out, such as the $179 starting price in the FAQ. "First-party" means interviewing.io says it about itself and we could not test it, such as the claim of 100K hosted mock interviews. "Third-party" would mean reviews or forum posts; we used none for this article, so no sentence here rests on a user anecdote. "Ours" marks TrueInterview's own public pages, which we held to the same rule.

What we did not verify matters as much. We did not sit a paid session, so we cannot say how good the feedback is in practice, how long booking takes, or whether a specific-company interviewer is available when you want one. We did not test the AI Interviewer. We did not find a standalone public price list, so the only candidate prices in this review are the ones shown on the FAQ and gift pages. Outcome claims, such as the figure of over $50B in job offers, are the company's own and we have no way to check them.

What Is interviewing.io and How Does It Work?

interviewing.io is a mock-interview marketplace built around anonymity: you and a senior engineer meet in a shared coding editor with audio and chat but no video, and you can unmask afterwards if you both want to. The interviewer does not see your details, and the FAQ says you will not be paired with your coworkers. Formats on the home page cover coding, system design, machine learning, front-end, engineering management and behavioral rounds, plus Staff-level and manager practice.

Around that core sit several other products. A free AI Interviewer runs coding and system design interviews and includes over 200 problems from Beyond Cracking the Coding Interview. The site also offers 9 free chapters of the Cracking the Coding Interview sequel it helped write. Dedicated coaching bundles 3, 5 or 10 one-on-one sessions, and the home page describes these with interviewers from Amazon, Google or Meta. Company guides also market coaching with engineers from specific companies such as OpenAI. And a hiring side lets employers recruit from an invite-only network of top performers, at $500 a month plus 15% of first-year salary per hire. For candidates, that last piece shows up as a jobs portal with warm intros once you do well in practice.

The company says it has hosted 100K mock interviews and helped 10K engineers get jobs. Those are self-reported figures.

How Much Does interviewing.io Cost in 2026?

As of September 18, 2026, the only per-session price shown signed out is a starting point: interviews start at $179, and the price varies with the subject and with whether you want an interviewer from a specific company. The gift page shows $179 for one interview and a 10% discount for four or more. By our arithmetic, four gifted interviews at $179 come to about $644 after that discount; the gift page is the only place we saw the discount, so we cannot say whether it applies to sessions you book for yourself. Coaching packages and company-specific sessions are listed without prices on the pages we saw.

The refund commitment is stated in the FAQ: if you are unhappy with your interview, the company says it will issue a full refund. The Terms of Use, which carry an effective date of November 2, 2018, do not mention refunds in the text we read, so the FAQ is where that commitment lives. We did not request a refund and cannot say how the process works in practice.

For comparison, TrueInterview is a subscription, not a per-session product: Pro is $29 a month or $119 a year, Insider is $39 a month or $159 a year, and both yearly prices are labelled limited-time discounts. Company question banks are only in Insider, and a one-time Lifetime option costs $259 for Pro or $359 for Insider. TrueInterview's pricing page describes cancellation at any time with no renewal after the paid period; it does not promise a refund.

Company Coverage: interviewing.io vs TrueInterview

The two products cover companies in different shapes, so this table compares what is public rather than declaring a winner. interviewing.io's OpenAI, Anthropic and Stripe pages are process guides: round-by-round descriptions, topic lists and named example questions. Its Google and Meta guides add lists of solutions to questions that interviewers from those companies ask on its platform, which it says may not match real interviews. TrueInterview's company pages are banks of questions reported by candidates, dated by the month they were reported.

Two things stand out. The OpenAI and Anthropic guides were updated in June 2026 and read as current, including OpenAI's pilot agentic coding round, math-heavy coding examples such as KL divergence, and detailed advice on Anthropic's company values round. The Stripe guide covers Stripe-specific rounds such as the bug bash. The Stripe guide's last update is October 9, 2025, roughly eleven months before our check, and the Google and Meta guides show no date; the Meta guide describes its AI-assisted round "as of Q4 2025". On the replay side, filtering the library to Google returned 45 replays in our snapshot, something a question bank like ours does not offer.

Where Do interviewing.io's Interview Questions Come From?

interviewing.io states plainly where its question lists come from, and that is the key fact for buyers. Its Google and Meta guides say the lists are questions that interviewers from those companies ask on its platform and, because the data comes from mock interviews, may not be exactly what you would see in a real interview. Its topic lists for OpenAI, Anthropic and Stripe are built from conversations with engineers at those companies, cross-checked against Glassdoor and its own mock-interview data.

The public question index lists 74 questions with full-length solutions, by our count 10 easy, 54 medium and 10 hard, and the entries carry no company tag or date. The two question pages we opened showed complete worked solutions in several languages, readable signed out, with a link to practise the same problem in the AI Interviewer. That suits fundamentals practice; it is not organized as a record of what a given company asked recently.

The Terms disclaim any warranty of accuracy or likely results. TrueInterview's own Terms carry a similar disclaimer for user content, so this is not a differentiator on either side. Our methodology page adds that a model may copy-edit a report but is never the source of a question.

Anonymous Mocks with Senior Engineers: Useful or Overstated?

Useful, and this is where interviewing.io is strongest. The FAQ sets out a concrete interviewer bar: experience at FAANG or FAANG-adjacent companies, at least 4 years of experience with an average over 8, and at least 20 interviews conducted for such an employer. Candidates then do 2 trial interviews and are tracked on performance metrics, and the company says it keeps a long waitlist because of this selectivity. We could not test these claims; what we can say is that the bar is published in concrete numbers.

The anonymity design is thoughtful. Voice without video, no candidate data shown to the interviewer, and no pairing with coworkers lower the stakes of a bad session. You can ask for an interviewer from a particular company, though the FAQ says pricing changes when you do. Each session ends with a rundown of what went well and what to improve.

One scope note: the FAQ says its questions are similar to those in a real interview at a top company for a backend or full-stack role. The home page also lists machine learning and front-end formats, so if your loop is research, data or ML-focused, check that the format you need is offered before booking.

The free replay library deserves its own mention. Each replay is a real session shared with permission from both participants, and the library is filterable by company, focus, level and language. Watching a few senior-level replays before paying for your own session is the cheapest way to calibrate.

interviewing.io Privacy, Data and Terms

The anonymity design covers what the interviewer sees about you, not what is said in the session. The Privacy Policy states that information shared during an interview is not confidential and that the company cannot guarantee the other party will not repeat it; it also says the company instructs interviewers not to share interview replays. The FAQ adds that the company will never share anything about you or your contact info without your permission. As with any mock, keep employer-internal or NDA material out of the session.

Under the Terms, what you submit remains your property, and you grant interviewing.io a perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable license to it. For interview content, the stated purposes are providing and improving the service and academic research into hiring, which may include sharing aggregated or anonymized interview content with third parties. The Privacy Policy likewise allows sharing information with third parties for academic or research purposes, and says those institutions may not share it further unless it is aggregated or anonymized.

The Privacy Policy, effective April 25, 2024, names Google Analytics and Heap Analytics, says the service does not respond to browser Do Not Track settings, and allows anonymous demographic information to be used with advertisers and other third parties. The optional calendar integration stores the start and end times of your public and private events, but not their descriptions. Users can ask to have personal information erased where appropriate. The policy text we read does not name an AI model provider or state a retention period; we did not check whether the AI Interviewer is covered by separate terms.

The Terms include binding arbitration and a class action waiver, with a 30-day email opt-out for individuals; for individual claims under $10,000, the company says it will reimburse arbitration fees. The limitation-of-liability section names stopping use of the service as the sole remedy for a dispute and caps liability at what you paid in the three months before a claim. The Terms describe the platform as hosting real and mock interviews with peers and with people who hire engineers; the specific interviewer requirements appear in the FAQ rather than the Terms. The service is for users 18 and older, and the company may suspend accounts at any time; TrueInterview's Terms contain a similar suspension clause. TrueInterview's policies have been in force since July 15, 2026, and its Privacy Policy names its model providers and commits to deleting or anonymizing data within 30 days of a verified request.

interviewing.io vs TrueInterview: Which Should You Choose?

Choose by the job you need done, and for most candidates the answer is both, at different stages. The products are not substitutes: we do not sell mocks with human engineers and our own comparison page tells readers to book one or two elsewhere before an onsite.

Buy an interviewing.io session when your onsite is one to two weeks out, you have already practised the question types, and you want to find out how you perform under pressure with an engineer who has made hiring decisions at a large tech company. It is also the better choice for behavioral, engineering-manager and Staff-level rounds, where a human reading your answers matters more than question coverage. If you freeze in live interviews, the anonymous, voice-only format is a lower-stakes way to practise.

Use a question bank with AI practice when you are weeks out and need volume: many reps on the formats a specific company uses, dated so you can tell a recent report from an old one. TrueInterview's company pages list 87 OpenAI, 63 Anthropic and 61 Stripe questions reported by candidates, with coding and SQL judged against hidden tests and an AI rubric review. Full company banks are in the Insider plan at $39 a month, less than one human session at the $179 starting price.

TrueInterview is not the right choice when you want a human to watch you think out loud, when you are preparing mainly for behavioral or leadership rounds, or when you need a company-specific human coach. Our bank is also a sample of what candidates chose to report, not a syllabus of what will be asked.

A Seven-Day Test Before You Pay

Spend a week proving whether you need a paid mock before you book one. On the first two days, watch three replays from the interviewing.io library in your target focus and level, and write down where the candidates lost time. On the third day, run one free AI Interviewer session on a problem type you find hard. On days four and five, work a company's free questions on TrueInterview, including at least one system design question. On day six, re-read the company guide on interviewing.io for your target company, and check its last-updated date. On day seven, decide: if you are consistently solving problems but still unsure how you come across, book one human session, and read the FAQ's refund wording before you pay.

The trade-offs are pricing shown only as a starting point, a refund commitment stated in the FAQ rather than the Terms, interview content that is not confidential, and Google and Meta question lists drawn from its own mock interviews. Practise daily on a dated question bank, then spend on one or two human mocks when the interview is close.
