Infra Recruiter Screen: Experience and Tooling
TrueInterview
September 22, 2026 · 1 min read
Requirements
- The session should be a brief recruiter or HR chat that stays under 15 minutes.
- Give a summary of your previous work in infrastructure.
- Describe infrastructure or platform projects that you built or helped support.
- Talk about the tools and technology stack involved in those efforts.
- Keep every response short enough for the recruiter to judge team fit during the quick screening.
Notes
- For each project summary, cover the context, your specific ownership, scale or operating constraints, one reliability or delivery trade-off, and the result. That keeps the reply technical without turning a short screen into a full system-design deep dive.
- Connect every tool to a choice: what constraint justified it, which alternative you weighed, and what operational lesson came out of it. Explaining decisions is more useful than just naming products.
- Make role fit clear by linking your strongest project to the infrastructure responsibilities you want to take on next.
Preparation
- Draft and practice a 60-second overview of your infrastructure background that states your scope, strongest platform area, and one concrete outcome; cut anything that doesn't affect the fit signal.
- Have two separate two-minute project walkthroughs ready. Rehearse each one covering ownership, scale, failure mode, trade-off, and outcome, without depending on slides or notes.
- Create a one-page stack map for three tools you've used: problem solved, why chosen, alternative you rejected, and one production lesson. Practice explaining each row in 20 seconds.
