DarkInterview Review 2026: Fresh AI-Lab Question Banks — Worth It?

DarkInterview is a focused, well-organized question bank for 20 companies, strongest for candidates with a confirmed OpenAI, Anthropic or Meta loop who want recently reported questions plus system design courses. Its limits: most company questions are locked signed out, there is no Google bank, purchases are non-refundable, and its Terms describe the content as practice material rather than a prediction of real interviews.

Disclosure: TrueInterview is a competing interview-preparation product, and this review is published by TrueInterview. We checked DarkInterview's public, signed-out pages on September 18, 2026: home, pricing, collections, four company collections, two question pages, offers, bounty, learning center, Terms and Privacy Policy. We did not buy a subscription, did not sign in, did not test paid content, and did not compare individual questions between the two products. Every statement drawn from a page traces to a dated snapshot of that page; the Sources section lists each one.

Quick Verdict: Is DarkInterview Worth It in 2026?

Yes, for a narrow job: if you have an interview booked at one of the companies DarkInterview covers and you want a list limited to the past 12 months of reports, its Insider plan is a coherent product. It is harder to justify if your target is Google, if you want to judge quality before paying, or if you might need a refund, because the Terms state that all sales are final.

What We Verified — and What We Did Not

We sorted every statement into four evidence tiers, and kept a dated record of the exact wording behind each one. Observed means we saw it ourselves on a signed-out page on September 18, 2026, such as a price, a count of questions, or a clause in the Terms. First-party means DarkInterview says it about itself and we had no way to test it, such as its verification process or its user count. Ours means a statement from TrueInterview's own public pages, held to the same standard. We used no third-party reviews for this article.

What we did not do matters as much. We did not pay, so we cannot say how good the locked questions or solutions are. We did not test the code runner, the comment threads, or support response times. We did not compare questions between the two sites, and we make no claim about where any individual question came from. The quarterly price exists as a toggle on the pricing page, but the signed-out page text we captured shows only yearly and monthly figures, so we treat the quarterly price as unverified.

What DarkInterview Actually Is

DarkInterview is a subscription question bank plus a learning center, operated by Fluey AI, Inc.. The homepage pitches "fresh, human-curated" questions from the past 12 months, with stale ones archived. Its collections index groups 20 companies into four categories — AI labs, fintech, enterprise and data, and consumer platforms — and Google is not one of them. The site explains its limited company list as a quality choice: it skips companies where questions vary heavily by team or where the bank would be too large for a useful shortlist.

Around the question banks sit four other surfaces. A learning center offers 82 lessons across System Design, ML System Design, Product Architecture and Behavioral, plus a free Blind 75 coding set. An Offers page aggregates community-reported compensation, claiming 1,700+ offers across 350+ companies. A bounty program pays Amazon gift cards for question submissions. Comment threads under each question let candidates discuss under anonymous names. The homepage claims 7,430+ candidates are preparing with the site; we could not verify that number. Its testimonials are presented as anonymous feedback from Blind with companies and usernames removed, and we could not verify them.

DarkInterview Pricing in 2026

DarkInterview sells two paid plans, and only the more expensive one includes company question banks. As of September 18, 2026, Learn costs $39 per month or $149 per year, and Insider costs $69 per month or $299 per year. The yearly cards show an effective monthly rate of $12.42 for Learn and $24.92 for Insider, each charged once a year, and the Learn card advertises a 68% saving against monthly billing. Payment runs through Stripe.

The billing terms are the part to read before paying. Section 4.4 of the Terms states that all sales are final and that no refunds are offered. Cancelling keeps access until the end of the paid period, after which the account reverts to free access. Upgrades are prorated; downgrades wait until the period ends, with no refunds. The Terms also reserve the right to change which content is free or paid and to modify or remove free and paid questions at their discretion.

The pricing FAQ describes Learn as System Design, ML System Design and Product Architecture, while the Learn plan card also lists the full Behavioral course; the plan card is the more complete description of what Learn includes.

For comparison, TrueInterview's Insider plan is currently $39 per month or $159 per year; every TrueInterview plan is on a limited-time discount, and the yearly Insider list price is $299, the same as DarkInterview's. TrueInterview says subscribers keep the price they signed up at. Its Pro plan is $29 per month or $119 per year, and both plans have a one-time lifetime option at $259 and $359. The bundles differ: DarkInterview's cheaper plan buys courses, while TrueInterview's cheaper plan buys an AI job-application agent and practice sets.

Company Coverage: DarkInterview vs TrueInterview

DarkInterview has fewer questions per company than TrueInterview, but its totals are deliberately trimmed to recent reports, so the two numbers are not like-for-like. DarkInterview shows only questions reported in the past 12 months and archives older ones; TrueInterview keeps older questions visible with the month they were reported. Read the table as "how much is on the shelf" and "how much you can open before paying", not as a quality ranking.

On freshness, DarkInterview does what it says. Every dated item we saw on the four collection pages carried a month between December 2025 and September 2026, and the collection stamps were all updated within the past month. OpenAI shows 1 archived question and Stripe shows 5; the Anthropic and Meta pages showed no archived section. Two Anthropic Behavioral entries are undated; the collection card text states that every active question was reported in the past 12 months.

The coverage gap that matters most is Google. There is no Google collection, and the Google URL redirected to the collections index in our snapshot. If Google is your target, DarkInterview does not currently offer a company bank for it.

Question Quality and Sourcing

We could not grade locked content, so this section compares what each site says about sourcing and what the legal pages add. DarkInterview's marketing describes a verification process: every question is "reported and verified by real engineers", and a valid question "typically has multiple independent reports" that are cross-referenced. The FAQ names three channels — monitoring sources where candidates post experiences, working directly with engineers, and the bounty program.

The Terms describe the same content more cautiously. Section 2.1 calls the questions user-contributed "recollections and interpretations" that may not be exact. Section 2.3 says the content should be used as practice material, not as predictions of the questions you will encounter. Section 11.1 disclaims any warranty that the content is accurate or up to date, or that the questions will appear in actual interviews. The top-of-page legal disclaimer adds that all questions are reconstructed from publicly shared candidate experiences.

None of this is unusual for the category. Both sites' Terms describe their content as practice material and disclaim its accuracy, and TrueInterview's methodology page calls its own bank a sample of what was asked, not a syllabus of what will be. Whichever site you use, read these questions as candidate reports, not as a guaranteed exam.

Of the active items on the four collections we checked, 8 carry a FREE PREVIEW label, and locked titles render as placeholder text when signed out. The one preview page we opened is substantial, with a full write-up, a sample solution, follow-up discussion and a comment thread. A non-preview page shows only the opening problem statement and an example before cutting off.

Courses, Offers and Bounties: Useful or Overstated?

The learning center is the clearest reason to consider DarkInterview beyond the question banks. Its four paid tracks total 82 lessons — 36 in System Design, 21 in ML System Design, 12 in Product Architecture and 13 in Behavioral. The System Design course lists 20 case-study questions and says more are coming. The Blind 75 set is free with a code runner. The homepage counts these as 5 tracks, which includes the free Blind 75 set. TrueInterview's plans are built around question sets, AI review and application tools rather than lesson tracks, so candidates who want structured system design lessons get something from DarkInterview that TrueInterview's plans do not list.

The Offers dataset is free to browse without an account and is openly labeled as community-reported and not independently verified. It is a useful directional tool, and the page itself asks readers to treat the numbers as directional. At the time of our check, the OpenAI panel showed 26 offers with a median of $733K and the Anthropic panel 14 offers with a median of $617K.

As of September 18, 2026, the bounty page shows no active bounties, 5 completed bounties, and $200 paid out across 4 submissions, with rewards capped at the first 3 approved submissions per bounty. It is one input into the question bank, not evidence of its size.

Privacy, Data and Terms

DarkInterview's privacy policy is detailed and names its processors, which is to its credit. It lists Google, Stripe, Vercel, Judge0 via RapidAPI for code execution, Upstash Redis and Resend, and states that it does not sell personal information. Practice code and design drawings are described as stored for personal use only, and code you run in the practice editor is sent to Judge0 via RapidAPI for execution.

A few clauses are worth knowing. When configured, the Google Ads tag loads with Consent Mode storage denied by default; if you choose "Essential Only" in the cookie banner, conversion events may still be sent as cookieless pings, and only if you accept all cookies can a hashed email be shared for Google Ads enhanced conversions. Bounty submissions store your full, unhashed IP address. After deletion, transaction records are kept for 7 years and backups for up to 90 days, and deletion is requested by email. The Terms require binding arbitration and a class-action waiver, and cap liability at what you paid in the prior 12 months or $100, whichever is greater — the same cap TrueInterview's Terms use. Questions you submit are licensed to DarkInterview perpetually and irrevocably.

Two documents also disagree with each other. The Terms say the retired interview-experience writeups are no longer published or browsable; the Privacy Policy, updated later, says previously approved writeups may remain browsable as an archive. Historical points-based unlocks are final, with no refunds, including for writeups that are no longer available.

For balance, TrueInterview sends user inputs to third-party language-model providers, named in its privacy policy as OpenRouter (including DeepSeek models) and Anthropic. DarkInterview's policy names no language-model processor.

Where DarkInterview Is Strong — and Where It Falls Short

Strengths

DarkInterview vs TrueInterview: Which Should You Choose?

Choose DarkInterview if you want structured system design or ML system design lessons alongside a recent question list, and your target is one of its 20 companies. Its Learn plan at $149 per year is a reasonable buy for course content alone. It also suits candidates who prefer a list limited to the past 12 months over a larger dated archive.

Choose TrueInterview if you want to see more before paying — on the companies we compared, TrueInterview lists 11 of 87 OpenAI questions and 21 of 168 Meta questions as free in full, and a free account opens 3 full interview write-ups a day — or if your target is Google. It also suits candidates who want the job-application side handled: Pro includes an AI agent that tailors a CV per role, and a browser extension fills the form while you review and submit it yourself. At current limited-time prices, TrueInterview's Insider plan is $39 per month against $69.

TrueInterview is not the better fit for everyone. Its plans list no course tracks, its current prices are a limited-time offer, although subscribers keep the price they joined at, and its larger per-company totals include older questions, dated rather than archived. If you only want the last year of reports, DarkInterview's trimmed lists are closer to that brief.

A Seven-Day Test Before You Pay

Because DarkInterview does not offer refunds, test what is free first. On day one, open the free preview questions for your target company and read the whole page, including the comment thread. On day two, check the collection page for your company: note how many items are active, how many are archived, and the latest report month. On day three, try the free Blind 75 runner to judge the editor. On day four, read Terms sections 2, 4 and 11. On day five, compare the same company on another site's free tier, for example TrueInterview's company page. On day six, decide between Learn and Insider: the pricing FAQ says Learn is enough if you are studying and Insider is for a specific upcoming interview. If you have a confirmed loop at one of its companies and want courses too, it is worth a month. If you want to inspect more before paying, need Google, or want help with applications as well as preparation, TrueInterview is the better starting point.
