How would you improve AI-generated code?
TrueInterview
October 7, 2026 · 1 min read
In a pair-programming interview, you built the rover simulator with help from an AI coding assistant. The implementation passes the simple examples, but the interviewer then asks:
"Suppose most of this code was produced by AI. What would you change before putting it into production?"
Give a structured code-review plan with concrete improvements in these areas:
- Correctness and edge cases
- API design and readability
- Test strategy
- Maintainability and extensibility (for example, multiple rovers or 3D)
- Performance and failure modes (invalid input, boundary conditions, collisions)
Be specific about each change and the reason for it.
Overview: This question assesses software engineering skills including code review, reasoning about correctness and edge cases, API design and readability, test strategy, maintainability and extensibility, and analysis of performance and failure modes in the Software Engineering Fundamentals domain.
