Hiring-Manager / Project Chat + AI Philosophy

Requirements
Expect one or more conversational sessions with the hiring manager and/or a project lead. Two themes consistently appear:
- Project / resume deep-dive — your experience, the projects you drove, and the engineering reasoning behind them. Staff-level candidates should be prepared to dissect the most difficult piece of a previous project and justify the system-design trade-offs they chose.
- AI philosophy — your perspective on AI, how it shapes your daily workflow, and how you partner with AI tooling. This surfaces across recent interview loops, not exclusively in the OA.
For senior/Staff candidates the broader discussion also touches on on-call rotations, security/infrastructure incident handling, sprint mechanics, roadmap planning, and org/team design.
Notes
- The AI discussion carries real weight, not just filler — a candidate who talked about "views on AI and its impact on daily work" with a project lead was still rejected, so come with a specific, opinionated position: where AI truly speeds you up, where you retain the final call, and how you preserve quality while leveraging it.
- These conversations are warm and open-ended; steer with ownership and concrete results instead of waiting for questions.
Preparation
- Have 2–3 project narratives ready with clear scope, your choices, and measurable outcomes. For the hardest project, sketch the architecture and practice the alternatives you discarded and why.
- Compose a one-paragraph viewpoint on collaborating with AI tools and practice delivering it aloud.
