Requirements
- Harvey treats the behavioral interview as a values assessment, not a generic Q&A — build your stories around the company's stated values. Recruiters direct candidates to the Harvey Values post and specify what to focus on.
- Common prompts:
- Conflict or disagreement, including settling disputes between teams.
- Delivering and receiving feedback.
- Your mentoring philosophy — how you guide others, whether you hold regular 1:1s.
- Driving a project: how you distribute work and navigate technical trade-offs.
- Structure: the virtual onsite values round is typically ~30 minutes, so keep narratives concise and resist the urge to drill too far into a single example.
Notes
- The values segment may be paired with the coding round during the virtual stage, while system design and the deep dive happen on-site.
- The hiring manager's version can stretch longer (up to ~70 minutes) and interweaves values with project exploration.
Preparation
- Study the Harvey Values post and craft one or two tight STAR stories for each value.
- Have narratives at the ready for cross-team conflict, a feedback episode, your mentoring style, and a project where you led task delegation and a technical trade-off.
