Pick a research project you are deeply familiar with and walk through it in technical detail. Cover the problem you studied, what you personally did, the approach you selected, and the evidence that supports your conclusions. Choose something you can talk about without revealing anything confidential.
What a Strong Answer Includes
- A precise research question plus a baseline that lets you measure progress.
- A clear distinction between your own work and what collaborators contributed.
- The reasoning behind the method, the experimental setup, and the metrics used to evaluate results.
- A meaningful limitation, a failed result, or an alternative interpretation.
- Conclusions grounded in the actual evidence, not in what the project hoped to achieve.
Follow-up Questions
- Which experiment gives the most direct test of whether your proposed mechanism actually explains the outcome?
- What result would lead you to change your conclusion or switch to a different approach?
Overview: Walk through a research project by covering its question, your personal contribution, experimental design, evaluation evidence, limitations, and the next decisive experiment.
