Talk about a past project you are proud of, and describe how you collaborated with colleagues to push the work ahead. You can draw on the same project for both parts if it fits both prompts. Base your answer on your own experience, and make clear what you personally contributed versus what the team did.
Part 1 — A project you are proud of
What problem was the project solving, which parts did you personally own, and why does the outcome make you proud? Walk through a hard decision instead of only naming the technologies involved.
What this part should include
- The initial problem and why it mattered to the people who used or ran the system.
- The choices you made, the tradeoffs involved, and the evidence that supports the result.
- A specific limitation or lesson that still stands even though the project succeeded.
Part 2 — Moving work forward with colleagues
Describe a dependency, disagreement, or coordination issue that came up in a project. How did you work with the people involved to arrive at a decision and keep things moving?
What this part should include
- The differing responsibilities or constraints that required collaboration.
- What you did to clarify ownership, resolve the problem, and follow through.
- Recognition of what others contributed, plus what you would do differently next time.
What a strong answer includes
- A clear story that distinguishes what you owned, what the team decided, and what resulted.
- Enough detail about a technical or delivery choice to allow deeper follow-up questions.
- Honest evidence and reflection, without made-up metrics or taking credit for others' work.
Follow-up questions
- Which decision from the project would you revisit now that you know more?
- How could you tell whether the collaboration issue was truly resolved, rather than just postponed?
Overview: Describe a project you are proud of and how you moved the work forward with colleagues, demonstrating personal ownership, technical decisions, evidence, and reflection.
