Discuss Distributed-System Experience with Go, Java, Spark, and Elasticsearch
TrueInterview
October 7, 2026 · 1 min read
Talk about relevant project work where you built distributed systems using Go, Java, Spark, or Elasticsearch. Cover the part each technology you actually used played, how data moved through the system, one technical decision you were responsible for, and what happened as a result.
Constraints
Do not say you have used a technology if you have not. If you have no direct experience with one of the listed technologies, describe the nearest relevant experience you do have and what you would need to pick up. Label any example that is not based on personal experience as hypothetical. Give scale and outcome figures only when you can back them up.
Clarifying Questions
- Is the interviewer mainly looking for online services, distributed data processing, or search?
- Should the answer go deep on one project or compare experience across several projects?
Hint: Connect the technology to its job
Explain why a component existed and how data moved through it before listing libraries or product names.
What a Strong Answer Covers
- Honest personal ownership and relevant experience with the technologies named.
- A specific architecture and what each component was responsible for.
- A technical decision, its operational effects, and proof of the result.
Follow-up Questions
- What was the most difficult failure to reproduce across component boundaries?
- Which technology choice would you reconsider if the workload were smaller?
Overview: Describe your ownership of a distributed-system project, its data flow, technology choices, and operational lessons using genuine Go, Java, Spark, or Elasticsearch experience.
