Describe Your Python Work
Walk through your hands-on Python background: the systems or analyses you have built, the quality habits you follow, and where your knowledge ends.
Constraints and Assumptions
- Base your answer on actual projects, not a catalog of packages.
- Separate production work from prototypes and class assignments.
- Mention testing, packaging, typing, performance, or operational concerns when they apply.
Questions to Clarify First
- Did the code run as a service, pipeline, automation job, or analysis?
- How did you verify correctness?
- At what point did Python become the wrong choice?
Hint: Show the engineering context A language only counts as credible experience when the response explains what was built and how it was maintained.
What a Strong Response Includes
- Representative Python projects and the part you played.
- How you handled testing, dependencies, observability, and deployment.
- A lesson from debugging or performance work.
- Where your skills end and how you decide to use a different tool.
Follow-up Questions
- What do you do to keep a large Python codebase maintainable?
- Give an example of a performance issue where micro-optimizing Python would not be your approach.
Overview: Frame Python experience around maintained production systems, correctness habits, operational judgment, and honest limits on tool choice.
