Plan for a 30–45 minute conversation with the hiring manager. The discussion will likely focus on your recent work, along with a few conflict and communication situations. Respond to the prompts below:
- Walk through your current (or most recent) project
- What were you trying to achieve, which parts did you own, and what difference did it make?
- What limits did you face (scope, schedule, dependencies), and how did you weigh the tradeoffs?
- Describe a technical challenge you faced and how you solved it
- Choose one specific problem (for example, a production bug, reliability issue, performance regression, or launch blocker).
- Walk through your debugging or decision process and the final outcome.
- Cross-team conflict scenario (Infra caused a bug)
- You suspect an infrastructure or platform team introduced a problem that impacted your service.
- How would you investigate, communicate, and push the issue to resolution?
- Then answer the reverse: If you were the infra/platform team, how would you handle the situation?
- Dealing with difficult people
- Give an example of working with someone who was hard to collaborate with.
- How did you manage communication, alignment, and delivery while keeping the working relationship intact?
Include what you said or did, how you communicated, and any measurable outcomes if you have them.
