Defend a Project's Schema, Indexes, and Concurrency Model

Select one data-intensive service you have worked on, or define a clearly labeled hypothetical one, and be ready to defend its storage design in a detailed technical review. Cover the schema and its relationships; justify the chosen field boundaries against the actual query and write patterns; explain which indexes are required and why; describe the consistency behavior you rely on when the system experiences a network partition; and show how simultaneous updates prevent lost writes or broken invariants.
Constraints:
- Use a single service for the entire answer, explicitly marking it as real or hypothetical.
- Before considering any index, describe at least two specific read or write operations the service must support.
- Keep transaction isolation and distributed replica consistency as separate concerns.
- For every lock, version check, or transaction boundary, state exactly which invariant it guards.
Clarifying questions you may ask:
- Which fields or relationships are queried most heavily, and which write operations dominate traffic?
- Are stale reads acceptable to clients for any operations, and if so, which ones?
- May two simultaneous requests legally modify separate fields on a single record?
