Compute incremental profit, breakeven, and revenue sensitivity

Question
You are deciding whether to introduce a vegan burger line in Year 1. Use these assumptions (m = million):
- Fixed training cost: $60m per year
- Supplier retainer: $2.25m per month (fixed)
- Vegan patty plus ingredients variable cost: $2 per burger
- Selling price: $5 per vegan burger
- Expected sales volume: 120m burgers in Year 1
- Calculate the Year-1 incremental operating profit, which is revenue minus variable costs minus fixed costs (the no-launch baseline is $0). Remember to annualize the monthly retainer.
- Break the result into its fixed and variable parts and restate it in contribution-margin terms (per-unit contribution, contribution margin ratio, total contribution).
- Find the breakeven unit volume for the vegan burger line and explain what it means.
- Perform a sensitivity check: if actual sales volume comes in 10% above or below plan, what is the new incremental profit in each scenario?
Overview: A Capital One data scientist technical-screen case covering cost accounting and profitability modeling. Candidates compute the Year-1 incremental profit of a new vegan burger line, separate it into fixed versus variable components, derive breakeven volume, and run a plus-or-minus 10% sensitivity analysis.
